What kind of Thai? Pure Thai! | Inga Marie

Last week, we went out to celebrate our awesome co-worker Jack?s achievement?being hired on full time at Coach! A small group of us, just four, went out for a drink and then food. Jack is from Thailand, and we gave him the choice of dinner venue (it was his celebration after all!). He chose, without a second hesitation according to my friend Natalie, Pure Thai.

Pure Thai

I really enjoy Thai food, but I haven?t been to a truly ?authentic? place, simply because I never had a friend to tell me what was and was not authentic! Pure Thai is a located in Hell?s Kitchen and is touted as an authentic Thai shophouse style restaurant. The place is small and there?s a wait for dinner most nights, around 15-20 minutes depending on your group size.

We ordered Thai Iced Tea (even though we sat by the front of the restaurant and honestly it was a bit chilly there, we wore our jackets on our laps!), and that was the first time I?d had it before. It was delicious! And totally worth being a bit more cold for.

Three out of four of us ordered Pad See Ew for our main course, with beef. We shared a few appetizers: Chicken Curry Puffs (DELICIOUSNESS! Light, fluffy, flavorful), Crispy Tofu (basic & a good flavor palate cleanser), and Roasted Baby Back Rib (savory, a bit spicy, and tender). I was in Thai food heaven! Then, the main courses came. I was so thrilled with my choice, it was the perfect choice! The flavoring was savory & comforting, I really enjoyed it. They didn?t skimp on the vegetables or the beef in the dish, and the sauce was mixed just right so that there was enough in the dish but it wasn?t soupy or the other extreme, dry and lacking flavor. Foodies rejoice! I don?t know how I?ll ever eat Thai food at No Thai ever again? Hehe you Wolverines get where I?m referencing ;] Food pictures below!
